In just a few days, we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving and then it’s full swing into the Holiday Season. The KCMQG will have it’s December Meeting and Holiday Party on Thursday, December 14. It will be a fun filled evening of food, frivolity and FaBrIc, of course. Please plan to join us. Click on the Calendar link above for full details on time and place.
In order to fully enjoy the evening, please bring a sweet or savory snack item to share. The guild will provide the beverages for this event.
You’ll also want to grab ONE YARD of a favorite fabric and bring it, along with a small pair of scissors, to the evening’s festivities. We’ve got a plan brewing which is sure to end in a stack of fabric and a challenge to each of us. Don’t forget to choose a FAVORITE fabric. You’ll end up with a piece of it so make sure it’s something you like...
Also, we’re offering the opportunity to participate in a Block Lotto.
This fall we are welcoming FOUR of our amazing KCMQG members to the stage to inspire and delight us with their quilting journeys. Jennifer Dick, Lisa Hirsch, Patty Simmons and Trisch Price will be sharing their quilts and we're sure you'll find them to be inspiring. We are excited to hear about the influences on their quilting and sewing journeys and enjoying the quilts that they'll be sharing with us.
In addition to an amazing program, we'll be joined by The Modern Quilter who is sponsoring our meeting. They'll be setting up their pop up shop at the meeting and there will be an amazing array of fabrics and other quilty goodness that you can take home. Come prepared to shop!
It's rare that we able to welcome back a nationally renowned and talented friend like Melissa Averinos twice in such a short period of time. Last year, Melissa came and spent a weekend with our members. It was a much anticipated weekend and the members who were able to spend time with Melissa are STILL talking about what a great time they had and how much they enjoyed her visit. As fate would have it, Melissa is going to be back in the KC area and we were able to schedule another weekend with her for August 4th and 5th.
August 4th will be an all day class dedicating to Making Cat Faces!
August 5th is dedicated to Making Faces (People Faces, that is)
(These are actual faces made by KCMQG members last year in Melissa's Class!)
The Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild is excited to announce that Latifah Saafir will be joining us in June. She will be speaking at our June guild meeting on Thursday, June 8th at Roeland Park. Please join us and bring a guest. (there will be a $10 minimal charge for guests at this meeting)
On Friday and Saturday, June 9 & 10, Latifah will bring be staying over to spend some extended time teaching 2 amazing workshops:
This is a great way to enjoy instruction from one of the Modern Quilt Guild's best teachers, get to know your fellow guild members and learn new skills that will enhance your sewing and quilting.
If you're not already a guild member, now is a prefect time to join and enjoy discounted workshop fees as just one of the many perks of being a member!
Our February meeting at Roeland Park Community Center was brimming with hard work and was full of inspiration. Lucky for us, guild members showed previous workshop and challenge finishes and told us the stories of their KC Arts Challenge inspirations. Our regular show and tell was a wonderful bonus. See you in March!
