A few things our members have in the works:
If there’s a man in your life who wants to learn how to sew,
sign him up for the Man-Made Sewing Series at Modern Makers, taught by Lesley Latham. This series of
classes is for all of the men out there who want to MAKE! Projects will vary
and you can join in at any time.
August 6th, 6:30-9:30pm – Modern Pillow
August 20th, 6:30-9:30pm – Bow Tie
Lesley will also be teaching the super popular Staple Dress
by April Rhodes on August 24th from 12-5pm. This is a simple dress
with lots of ease through the bust and hips for women and teens sizes xl-xxl. You
can find more info on these classes by visiting the Modern Makers website.
Nikki McDonald is the Regional Coordinator for the Quilts
of Valor organization and would like to invite anyone interested to come
help make heirloom quality quilts for members of the US Military. She has a
private Facebook page for the Quilts of Valor Kansas City Area group and they
meet on the last Saturday of the month for a QOV sewing day.
Saturday, August 23rd,
9-4pm at Tallgrass Creek Retirement Village
Please email Nikki at nikki.mcdonald@qovf.org for
information on joining the group or to RSVP for this event.
This is the first of hopefully
many more “upcoming events” blog posts! The events listed are submitted by
individual KCMQG members on a monthly basis.
