Inspiration of the Week - Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt

This week, we'd like to feature one of our own members: Carla of Lollyquiltz who did a fabulous modern take on the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt.

Carla began work on this quilt in June of 2011. She and her friend Cindy participated in the Farmer's Wife Quilt Along with the goal of doing 2 blocks a week, 111 blocks total. Carla blogged as she went along, and even went into detail with the letters and back story that was part of the Farmer's Wife book.

These are the first two blocks Carla made:

And this is the very last block she made to complete her sampler:

Carla set her blocks in white.

She backed it in white sateen, and had a long-arm quilter named Lynne Harbour quilt it.

Carla's work on this quilt is simply astounding. She took a phenomenal quilt pattern and made it modern with her choice of fabrics and colors. Her journey begins here, if you'd like to read up on it. And her final post is here.

Thanks for sharing, Carla!

Inspiration of the Week - Arrow Tail Quilt

In August, Laurel of Sing All You Want started a quilt along based on a design she came up with for her son. She named it Arrow Tail Quilt and we think it's fabulous!

For the quilt along, she made another version using a fabric line from Joann's called: Rosette, by Juliana Horner. It's great use of fall fabrics for this design.

Instead of machine quilting this, Laurel decided to hand tie it with cream-colored perle cotton. It's such a lovely touch. Backing is Garden Main Floral, Laurel's favorite print in the collection.

There is a flickr group for Laurel's QAL; you can see other quilts in this pattern there.
The tutorial page to make your own version of this quilt can be found here.
Thanks for sharing, Laurel!

Inspiration of the Week - Oh Snap!

Welcome back to Inspiration of the Week! This week we have Emily from Quilts by Emily showcasing her Oh Snap! quilt. It's a fun, Polaroid-themed piece.

She used this tutorial to make a bunch of Polaroid blocks. She made hers slightly larger than the tutorial for more impact.

And turned it into a beautiful quilt!

Her backing is so cute too.
