Inspiration of the Week - Swapsies: A Rainbow Mini Quilt

Paper-piecing lovers, this one is for you! This gorgeously intricate mini quilt was made by Kelly of kelbysews as a swap gift. If this was our swap gift, I don't think we could give it away!

Kelly says the only hard part was lining up the corners when sewing the wedges together. We can see why!

We love her fabric choices here, and the quilting is perfectly suited to the design.

Kelly bought the pattern for this mini on Craftsy. Read more about her quilt here. Thanks for sharing, Kelly!

Inspiration of the Week: Spectrum Baby Quilt

If you've got a head for physics (or perhaps even if you don't) this baby quilt is for you! While we don't all know logarithmic scales, we find Josée's description of how she calculated the color blocks for this quilt simply fascinating. Inspiration from engineering!

Joseé, from The Charming Needle, made this quilt for Issue 14 of Fat Quarterly. She used Kona cotton solids and did three rows of different widths from darker to lighter and going long to short.

When she got to the quilting part of it, she spaced her straight line quilting using a logarithmic grid too!

We love this quilt and think it's a great complement to any kid room. Especially with this fun Alexander Henry print on the back!

Before quilting it, Josée spray basted this quilt instead of pinning. Her set up and process is great! Read more on that here. Thanks for sharing, Josée!

Inspiration of the Week - Envelope Quilt

This week our featured quilt finds it's inspiration from one of our favorite stores - the Paper Source catalog. Cindy of Hyacinth Quilt Designs made this gorgeous Envelope Quilt and it looks just like the colorful paper envelopes!

Straight line quilting on the envelopes sets them apart from the loopy quilting in the background, and makes them shine.

Inspiration of the Week - Ombre Love

Ombre colors have been in trend for a while now, and this quilt brings out the best of that trend. Megan of Canoe Ridge Creations created this Ombre Love quilt using ombre cotton solids. Her inspiration sprung from Vanessa's ombre fabric collection, seen here. Megan cut her ombre strips up into rectangles and split them up with thin strips of white to give it a "paint chip" effect.

Staggered strips gives the quilt a feeling of movement, and the wavy line quilting only contributes to that effect.

The binding fabric comes from the Simply Color line and pairs fabulously with this quilt.
